Goodwin Development Trust is a successful community business that seeks to improve people’s quality of life through developing and delivering gap services from a number of sites across the City of Hull. We are now seeking to recruit an experienced practitioner into the following role:


Goodwin Development Trust is looking to recruit a professional and confident individual into Haven. Haven has been working with refugee/asylum seeker communities in Hull for twelve years and has a wealth of experience in providing an emotional support and therapeutic service.

Therapist (JOB REF: T01)

Actual annual salary for hours 21 per week£16,587 (FTE £29,225)

Fixed term until 30th April 2019 (pending further funding)

Haven provides a ‘holistic’ therapeutic service to refugees and asylum seeker individuals and families.

The successful candidate will provide psychotherapy services for refugees and asylum seekers who have survived exile and persecution and who are experiencing mental distress.

The responsibilities of this post include receiving referrals and arranging assessments with clients who meet the service criteria, carrying a caseload of short and long term clients, whilst ensuring that clinical standards meet the ethical standards of BACP, UKCP or BPS.

The ideal candidate must have a formal accredited training in Psychotherapy or Counselling. (UKCP, BCP, BACP, BPS ụghalaahia) Diploma level or equivalent. The candidate must have experience of providing a service to appropriate clinical standards in an alternative setting, such as the client’s home, a school, or other agency. Experience of working with interpreters in a counselling setting would be an advantage but is not essential.
